Honghua Group Achieves Positive Results in Shale Gas Development in Sichuan

In late February 2019, Honghua Group Co. Ltd. ( “Honghua” or the “Group”) (0196.HK), the world’s leading onshore oil and gas equipment manufacturer, achieved positive results for shale gas development projects in Sichuan.

Honghua completed the project of the first shale gas well with all-electric fracturing equipment in the Weiyuan shale gas field of Sichuan Province, China, marking the new era of all-electric green development of shale gas. Honghua implemented the pioneering concept of “gas-pumping, gas-electricity integration” in this platform. Six 2MW gas turbine generators generated electricity with wellhead gas from nearby wells, and supported four 6,000HP electric fracturing pumps to work at the same time. Honghua’s electric fracturing system is widely recognized by clients for its environmental sustainability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Honghua completed fracturing for 5 sections within one day in the Changning shale gas field of Sichuan Province, setting a record for the daily single-vehicle shale gas fracturing performance in China. The 6,000HP electric fracturing pump developed by Honghua was used in this project which involved drilling, fracturing and testing work. It achieved a maximum displacement of 13 m³ and improved the construction efficiency.

As the most powerful electric fracturing pump in the world, Honghua’s 6,000HP product applies the world’s first medium voltage AC variable frequency drive technology. It has the advantages of intense power, large displacement, accurate control, quick response, wide speed range, stable operation, high efficiency and safety, convenient operation, low cost and transportation module, and small floor space.

China’s shale gas development is still in early stage and is full of potentials. Honghua will closely follow the trend, develop the shale gas business, and actively promote the turnkey solution based on the concepts of “network-centered, gas pumping, gas-electricity integration, streamlined operation, and automatic manufacturing”, to contribute to shale gas exploration and development in China.
